GEM COUNTY SHERIFFS POSSE ACCOUNT OF YESTERDAY
Our phone call came in from dispatch at 4:45am yesterday morning to meet with the police at Wild Willys in Emmett. Jim (Chief of the Gem County Sheriffs Posse), me and Bev Martin were off in minutes. When we arrived at Wild Willys, we were guided by Sheriff Rolland to the home on Hee Creek Dr. where we met with the other sheriff members. We did go door to door and I did a lot of driving clear over to Sunset and even Black Canyon Hwy ( it was O Dark Thirty by then). By 9AM we met at the LDS church where a lot of volunteers came for help. We all divided into groups in which Jim headed group #2. We did a lot of walking, checking with neighbors, looking into backyards, sheds, etc. We kept a log with every volunteer,s name on it. It was one of our members along with her husband that took to putting on their river gear when all of a sudden, she saw the boy and ran over to hug him and tell him that we were all worried about him, remember he is autistic. He was a very sweet boy and just kept walking all night long. He was cold but was fine. The ambulance came to check him out, then I believe he was reunited with his father. It was a long and tiresome day. Jim, Me, and Bev returned to Ola at approx. 5:30PM The boy was found somewhere between 2 to 3 pm. I don't think we have put so many miles on the bottom of our soles since the "Mushroom Hunter". We thank the good Lord, that this child was ok.All of us were fed well, plenty of water, and the church took out chairs for all that were tired to sit on. MISSING BOY FOUND SAFE!!
From KTVB.com: EMMETT -- A missing autistic teenager from Emmett has been found safe.Fourteen-year-old Michael Trester hadn't been seen since 8:30 p.m. Monday.Gem County authorities say Michael was found walking near Black Canyon Dam around 2 p.m. He is reportedly doing OK....Before search crews left this morning they were told to look in bushes, garages, trees and even knock on doors because Michael could be hiding anywhere. The Gem County sheriff told us Michael's dad noticed he was missing around bedtime.The Trester family has a shop in the back of their home where Michael likes to do homework. He went to check on Michael, but he wasn't there.The sheriff says they searched their property then drove around the neighborhood looking for their son until 4:30 a.m. That's when they called the sheriff."We're very concerned because he's autistic," said Gem County Sheriff Chuck Rolland. "We're have very, very high hopes of finding him safely. And we don't suspect anything other than the fact that Michael has strayed away from the house, and if anything, he's hiding from us at this point in time." Crews started their search near Michael's home and are working their way away from his house.Over 100 volunteers assisted fire and police crews in their search. The sheriff said that this is not the first time Michael has gone missing.Authorities have never been called but the sheriff says his parents have found him hidden in neighbors RVs and garages before.See More

Local Idaho service providers need to understand how great the need is for housing, so each year we try to find out how many people are in need of housing by asking people where they slept on Wednesday, January 26th, 2011. Stop in for free food and an easy survey on February 1. We need your help!! Make your voice count! Please help us help you! Your answers will be confidential.You are invited to come on February 1. To thank you for your help, you will receive free certificates to McDonald's, hats, gloves and boxes of food. You will be able to eat a free, hot dinner (chicken ravioli).

FEBRUARY 12th----a couple of things
Start February 12th by taking your dog (actually dogs are not required) on the "Love At First Walk" at the Gem Sports Island Complex. This is a fundraising event that benefits PAL (Pet Adoption League) in Emmett. The walk starts at 10AM til about noon. I have more information and sign up sheets at the Inn if you are interested.
After you are finished walking the dog, head home and get cleaned up for the Sweetheart Dinner.
The Sweetheart Dinner is held at the Ola Community Center, starting at 6PM, with dinner at 7PM. Tickets must be purchased in advance for this event at $25.oo per person. All proceeds benefit the Ola Library.

"GHOST" WHITE DOG ROAMING THE AREA
The situation of the white "ghost" dog is that, he/she is being fed and has a warm place that it sleeps. Chris talked to a person that knows the breed very well and was advised NOT to try and catch it. We do not want to scare the dog from its safe, warm, feeding area. Chris will continue to feed this dog and hopefully gain its trust, if anyone can it's Chris. Thanks to all for your concern!
