Missing Cow Meeting
Tom Blessinger announced that there will be a meeting of cattle ranchers to discuss missing cows. The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 2:30pm at the Ola Hall.
The Branding Inspector and Sheriff's Department will be present.

No host luncheon tomorrow, Saturday, May 18th, at the Cole Road Sizzler in Boise at 12:00 for anyone who wants to go? We will meet at the Ola Hall at 10:00 am to car pool. After the luncheon we will go to my friend, Marie Baldner's house to see her renovated tree house. I had given her Brett Holt's name and she is so happy with his work. She sent me pictures of the newly renovated tree house and it is fabulous.

Christina: Okay! Kim, thank you upon review I have found an outage. Apparently (and I am not making this up) haha.... a farmer was digging with his backhoe and cut a line. I show that 290 reports have been made and I will add one for your home as well. From the outage report I show approximately 5,206 customers are being affected. Right now there is not estimated restoral and they're awaiting splicers and a repair kit to assess how bad (if) the damage is.
Police: Suspects in Emmett church fires are in jail

EMMETT -- Police in Emmett say they have identified two males suspects involved in setting fires at two churches last month.
Fires extensively damaged the First Baptist Church and the Community Bible Church on the morning of April 27.
Emmett Police Chief Steve Nebeker says both suspects are currently in the Gem County Jail on other charges. Their names have not been released.
Nebeker says investigators have collected some valuable evidence and statements that link to two men to the arson fires.
The Emmett Police Department is working with the Gem County Sheriff's Office, State Fire Marshal's Office, FBI and ATF on the case.
The investigation is ongoing, and Nebeker says at this time no charges have been filed in connection to the arson case.
Police expressed their thanks to the community for their help in solving this case.
Feds: Budget cuts to make wildfire season tougher
BOISE -- Interior Secretary Sally Jewell says the nation is heading into a tough wildfire season made even more challenging because budget cuts mean fewer firefighters to battle blazes.
Jewell said Monday that a dry year is creating the potential for another extreme summer of forest and range fires.
Jewell spent the past two days touring the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise. She was joined by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who said a 7.5 percent cut to the 2013 U.S. Forest Service budget means 500 fewer firefighters on the ground this year.
Even before Monday's visit, fire experts were predicting a grim scenario for this summer's fire season. A dry winter and early warming is creating heightened potential for West Coast states, central Idaho, Montana, Arizona and New Mexico.

Candidate forum on Thursday
A candidate forum is scheduled to hear from six candidates running for the Emmett School District Board of Trustees — Shane Roe and Mark Maxfield are incumbents with challengers Donnie Wunder, Travis Whittemore, Robb Menlove and Manuel Guzman.
The forum will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 9 at Butte View Complex, 400 S. Pine St.
Hosted by the Messenger Index, the candidates will answer questions and be able to visit with voters.
Election day is May 21 where the three highest finishing candidates will be elected to a four year term, the candidate coming in fourth will serve a two year term.

Please join us for the Ola School Mayday Program. This year our plays are set in ‘Fiasco Town’ and will include lonesome cowboys, vexatious horse thieves, lost cows, and some surprising pest- control methods.
We will also be entertaining you with old-time country dances and music. The winding of the traditional May Pole and giving flowers to the Queens of the May will conclude our program. While we enjoy our refreshments, we will auction off some amazing donations and bakedgoods to help our school.
We hope to see you at 6:00 pm on May 3rd at the Ola Community Hall. You’ll love our Cowboy Biscuits and Tasty Horse-Thief Pies!

The Ola School May Day program will be held this Friday night at 6:00PM in the Ola Hall. After the program, the wrapping of the May Pole. This is special as Ola is one of the few places that still performs the May Pole dance. Following the wrapping of the May Pole, the PTO will auction items from the school carnival.
