Our volunteer fire department was called out just before 7:00 last evening. As it turned out their assistance was not needed, the other departments had gotten the fire under control. According to the news, the fire that burned down a house and totaled two cars was caused by the family's burning barrel. Although burning barrels are considered alright, extreme caution should be used. With conditions as dry as they are, a simple piece of burning paper floating through the air can spark a fire.
