TODAY'S "MISSING CATTLE" MEETING

A meeting was held February 24, 2011 at the Triangle Restaurant to discuss the missing cattle on Upper Squaw Creek. The Idaho State Brand Inspector-Larry Hayhorst, two inspectors, Lynn Gibson and Herb Foust, Gem County Sheriff-Chuck Rolland and Deputy Donny Wonder attended and presented ideas for reducing cattle rustling. More than 50 ranchers were present, also throwing out ideas and solutions to this problem. Approximately 150 head of adult cows, 2 bulls, a horse and numerous calves are missing, this is excluding wolves and poison.

Another meeting will be held on Friday, April 1st-1:30PM at the Ola Community Hall. The following persons will be present at this April 1 st meeting: Gem County Sheriff-Chuck Rolland, Idaho State Brand Inspectors, Senior Investigator for the Department of Agriculture and Department of Transportation. Also attending will be law persons from the BLM, National Forest Service, Trappers, Fish & Game and concerned citizens and ranchers.
