MONDAY MEETING
The Gem County Commissioner meeting at the Hall was well attended. Lan and Michelle shared the plans for the new jail facilities, the ground breaking should be in the next month or so. The county plans on finishing the landscaping out at the industrial park and the construction on the Sweet-Ola Highway is scheduled for 2014. The "pot holes" will be repaired soon. They had an equipment problem but that has been worked out. They loved the new Ola sign and will see that all the information is provided so that we can get that up. In case you haven't seen the sign, it's propped up on the west side of the hall. Dave and Katie Poole's grandson, Brandon, made it for his senior project, it's very nice! Two candidates for the Commissioner's seats mingled with people after the meeting. May 15 is primary election day, there are 5 candidates running for District #1 and 4 for District #3 to fill the 2 County Commission seats.Check out http://www.co.gem.id.us/election/default.htm for all the names. Discussions are starting to see if it would be effective for GCFD#1 and EMS to merge and SMART911 is now available for Gem County, check it out for yourself. It's an Emergency Health Data system. All in all a good meeting!
NEW OLA SIGN!
This beautiful sign was made by Brandon Poole as his senior project. It soon will be a permanent fixture so that anyone driving through Ola can enjoy it. Thank you Brandon!
SMART 911

This was introduced at the meeting last night.

Looking for Cattle pasture/range for cow/calf pairs and for bred heifers. Looking for pasture sizes anywhere from 10 acres to 10,000 acres. If you or someone you know has something that fits in this spectrum and you're wanting to lease it please contact me with how big your place is, what it is and what you're asking per head and per pair. Money is not an issue just looking for decent feed. New Plymouth, Sweet, Ola, Donnelly, McCall, Cascade, High Valley, are all areas that would be of interest. If you have another place that I don't have listed here tell me about it you just never know, it could be of interest. If its a big acreage more distance would be fine.
Thank you.
