HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA
Yesterday I listened to an interview with Lee Greenwood, songwriter and recorder of “God Bless The USA”. A very good interview about why he wrote the song and how it has affected people over the years. It pulls at the heart stings of most Americans. This interview brought a tear to my eye, not because of patriotic fervor, but because of sadness. For many of us we are seeing our country slowly slip away from it’s founding principles. We are no longer a God fearing nation, even though this country was founded by men who worshipped God and based a lot of their choices in there belief of God. God did, and has blessed the USA. Today however, as a nation we have slowly turned our back on God. We have taken God out of the public square and restricted his presence to church buildings, and now with the most recent court ruling even churches may be in jeopardy. This is what brought a tear to my eye. Why would God bless this country when this country has turned it’s back on Him? I personally think this is still the greatest nation the world has ever seen and can continue to be if we will turn to God instead of from Him. We are just starting a study of the book of Revelation in on Wednesday evenings at the Ola community church. Anyone interested in what is the future of this world are invited to join in this study.

NEW INFORMATION ABOUT THE FIRES
Boise District BLM Fire Crews Continue To Work Fires
Multiple ground and aerial resources are continuing to work fires that started yesterday.
South Slope Fire, 3 miles south of Emmett, ID was burning in grass and brush last night and is estimated to be 150 acres on both private and BLM lands. This fire is expected to be contained at 2:00 this afternoon and an estimated control time this evening at 9:00.
MM43HWY52 Fire, 6 miles north of Emmett, ID, is estimated at over 10,000 acres with the increase in acreage due to high winds, steep rugged terrain, and a burnout operation last night. The fire is burning on both private and BLM lands. Aerial resources continue to assist the resources on the ground with bucket drops and retardant. Structure protection engines are in place around multiple structures and outbuildings to safeguard these structures. Portion of Highway 52 was closed late last night but is now open again.
Resources working the fire consist of handcrews, engines, dozers, water tenders, helicopters and air tankers.
All three fires are human-caused and still under investigation. Please be cautious when recreating on public lands with weather patterns trending into the triple digits.

LOOKING FOR HOST FAMILIES
Hello,
I am a local coordinator for ETC International Exchange Student Program. Emmett High School has invited us to place two exchange students at the school for the academic year beginning in August. We are seeking host families for them. I would appreciate it if you would mention the need in the community newsletter.
We are particularly interested in placing Anna, a girl from Sweden, who loves horses and riding. She plans to become a doctor. She also says she likes to be around younger children and loves tennis and skiing. Her favorite subjects in school are math, biology and physics.
In addition to Anna, we have many other students from most countries in Europe and from Brazil, Mexico, China, Korea, Japan, Thailand and other countries. All have been screened for academic ability and maturity.
Host families are volunteers who provide room and board and exposure to life in America. Students have insurance and spending money. Couples with and without children at home and single women are encouraged to host.
If you know of someone who might be interested in expanding their family's cultural awareness while making a lifelong friend and impacting a student's life, I would like to hear from them; my contact information is below. This is a time sensitive need.
I have attached information about hosting that can be shared with anyone interested.
Thank you,
Glenna Tooman

The New Plymouth High Softball Team qualified for the State Championship that was held in Orofine this last Friday and Saturday. I am very proud of these girls. Each one of these girls played to the full extend of their ability. The played hard. On Friday, they started out playing Firth and won. Then they played Orofino and won. Saturday they played Wendell (a very good team) and won.
As it ended up, they played Wendell a second time for the championship. They WON!
After all of their hard work, these girls were like in a dream world.
For those of you who might remember Cheyenne Stallions, my granddaughter, she is a member of this team. When she is not pitching, she plays second base.
