Beautiful Wanda 91, was born in the family home in Filley, Missouri
October 2, 1921 the oldest of seven children born to Clarence Newton and Myna
Marie (Cole) Todd. In 1935 at thirteen years
of age, after graduating from the eighth grade the family headed West and settled in Midvale, Idaho where she graduated from high school. She met and fell in love with a handsome young
man, Cecil Sutton. They started their
life together in 1939, moving to Ola,
Idaho in 1940. Cecil passed away in 2007 and Mom moved to Emmett, Idaho,
leaving her heart in Ola.
Cecil and Wanda made a
very happy home for their family which grew to six children. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She never stopped wanting to do for them and sacrificed much for
her family. In return her family loved
and cherished her until the day she left us. She leaves a wonderful legacy. After the children all left the nest she had
time for her hobbies. She did beautiful
tin-can work and she and Cecil did extensive traveling in the West to craft
shows selling her tin-can crafts. She continued her love of crafting and
creating many works of art the last of which, was making beautiful quilts. She made numerous quilts most of which were
precious gifts to her family.
Mom kept a welcoming home
for all where no one left hungry. She
could whip up a fantastic meal in no time.
Her fried chicken was a delight and she always had a pot of coffee on
for anyone who stopped by (and many did).
She leaves behind five
children; sons,
Larry and Lou Ann Sutton of Emmett; Vernon
and Lois Sutton of Midvale, Rodger and Karen Sutton of the Eagle area; Allen
and Sharon Sutton of Ola; daughter Kathy Strickland of Emmett and
daughter-in-law Gloria Sutton of Ola. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and
numerous great-grandchildren all of whom adored her. She also leaves behind her only living
sibling, Fernita Stover of Ohio, and many great friends and family
members.
Mom was preceded in death
by her parents, her husband Cecil Sutton, son Perry Sutton, a grandson Jimmy
Sutton, son-in-law Larry Strickland, four sisters Wanona
Ader, Ruby Page, Reba Clauson,
Donis Williams and a brother Newton Todd.
The family is grateful to
Phyllis Soper, Lois Evans, and her sister Fernita for the loving care they gave to Mom.
In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests contributions to the Ola Ladies Club, The Ola Community Hall or
