Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch in effect from Wednesday morning through late
Thursday night...

The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a

* Flood Watch for a portion of west central Idaho. This includes
the following areas... Boise Mountains... upper Weiser river
and west central mountains.

* From Wednesday morning through late Thursday night.

* A mild westerly flow will bring warmer temperatures to the
region through the middle of the week... resulting in increased
low and mid elevation snowmelt. Additionally... moist storm
systems will bring significant rainfall to the area. The first
storm is expected to move through the area Wednesday and
Wednesday night... followed by a stronger storm on Thursday. Snow
levels will rise to 7000 to 8000 feet Wednesday night... then
gradually lowering to 5000 feet Thursday night.

* Rainfall and snowmelt may lead to flooding of creeks... ditches
... and storm drains. Additionally... mud and rock slides... or
debris flows may occur in steep terrain and on burn scars. Main
Stem river flooding is not expected at this time... but rivers
will be running high.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
