Incident Information

Summary:   A reconnaissance flight yesterday mapped the fire at 6700 acres and 85 percent contained.  Fire activity was again minimal and the northeast side of the fire received precipitation which helped firefighters along the fire line. The south and west side of the fire continued to be mopped up and repair of dozer lines in the area began later in the afternoon.

Current Situation:  Today, crews will continue to mop up and repair dozer lines along the south and west side of the fire perimeter.  Crews will also continue to use pumps and hoses along the northeast side of Timber Butte where there is still some isolated burning in heavier fuel types.

Weather:  A system moving across the Pacific Northwest will create another day of showers and thunderstorms over the Timber Butte Fire area today.  A Red Flag warning is in effecttoday until Wednesday afternoon. Precipitation and gusty winds are predicted in the afternoon with increased lightning activity.  Temperatures are expected to be lower today, ranging in the low to mid 80s.

Area Fire Restrictions: Stage I fire restriction are in effect for the West Central Mountains and more information can be found at http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/prog/fire/restrictions.html.
