Incident Information
Summary: With newly mapped dozer lines added, the total fire size is 6797 acres and is 95 percent contained. The fire area received widespread rain most of the day and crews were able to mop-up and repair lines along the south and west edges of the fire perimeter. Crews were pulled off the northeast side of the fire for safety reasons today during the rain. They were able to reengage in the afternoon and continue work on the interior.
Current Situation: Today, crews will continue to repair dozer lines and begin back haul of equipment. There will be crews working in the northeast area of the fire, continuing to work in areas to extinguish heavy, down logs and interior smokes. Crews will begin to demobilize as the fire transitions back to locale administration. The Great Basin Incident Management Team 5 will turn back management of the fire to local managers at 8:00 PM tonight.
Weather: Drier air will move into the area today, decreasing the chance of showers and thunderstorms over the fire area. Temperatures will be in the low 80s with minimum humidity around 30 percent. Chance of wetting rain is 20 percent. Gusty and erratic winds are possible with any thunderstorms that do develop.
Area Fire Restrictions: Stage I fire restriction in the West Central Mountains will be rescinded at midnight on Friday, 15 August 2014.
