MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE

The Memorial Day service was well attended. Everyone met in the Ola Cemetery where flags were raised and the pledge was said. The people were then led into the church by the students where everyone joined in singing patriotic songs. Then followed the reading of tributes in honor of our departed veterans. The crowd followed the children back outside where crosses and flags were placed on the graves of the veterans. The warmth of the crowd and the enthusiasm of the students took the chill out of the air.

WOMEN'S RETREAT IN JULY

The Women's Retreat will be at the Lutheran Heights Bible Camp outside Stanley July 16-18. This is an inspiring weekend of learning, fellowship and fun. The theme this year is Psalm 121:1-2, "I left my eyes to the hills-from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who makes heaven and earth". The leader this year is Kristen Koskella. The cost is $75.00 before July 1 and $80.00 after. The cost covers 5 meals and lodging. This is an awesome experience. Please plan to attend. Last year we had 10, how many this year? If you would like a registration form, please contact Joyce.

***JUST A LITTLE NOTE***
The Ola Calendar is more up to date than the Newsletter.
For instance, the Ola School Reunion is on September 12th. It's marked
on the Calendar but the Newsletter won't have information on it until later
in August. Refer to the Calendar for planning in advance.

SYRINGA LADIES CLUB TEA

What a beautiful day for a club tea!! That's just what Wednesday was, a beautiful day as the Syringa Ladies Club hosted their annual Spring Tea. The event was held at May Hunter's home, which in itself is a treat with her beautiful backyard patio and flowers in full bloom. There was a variety of delicious food served and great conversation to go with it. The program was first aid at home and on the road, and fire safety. There were lots of door prizes and petunias for everyone. Ten members of the Ola Ladies Club were present. Thank you Syringa Ladies and May for opening your lovely home to us.

SODA SPRINGS-The Movie

Thank you "anonymous" for the question regarding Soda Springs (the movie).

I don't have any pictures of the filming or the actors. The release date for the movie is September 9, 2010.

The residents of Gem County, Idaho are very excited for the release of Soda Springs. As most of us know, quite a few scenes were shot in Sweet and Emmett.

Click here or here for information on the movie, cast and location.

A MOVIE NEEDS AN OLD BARN.....

....located in the Sweet/Ola area. This barn would serve as the primary location for a horror/thriller movie. Ideally, this barn would be old, wooden, in an isolated spot and have a dirt floor. Also if power is close, for night shots. It would be best if it were a non-working barn, so no one gets in any ones way. They hope to shoot the movie Friday, Saturday and Sundays, July 16-18 and July 23-25, both during the day and at night. This is a "no-budget" movie with an all volunteer cast and crew, so they don't have resources to pay a location rental fee but will compensate for any power costs.

Do you know of an old barn that would fit this description?

If you would like to read the contact letter, just let me know and I will send you a copy. I will also have a copy of it at the Ola Inn.
