Where did you sleep?
Let our folks know if you were sleeping outside, in a car, a tent, RV, at someone else's house or just don't have your own bed! Local Idaho service providers need to understand how great the need is for housing, so each year we try to find out how many people are in need of housing by asking people where they slept on Wednesday, January 26th, 2011. Stop in for free food and an easy survey on February 1. We need your help!! Make your voice count! Please help us help you! Your answers will be confidential.

You are invited to come on February 1. To thank you for your help, you will receive free certificates to McDonald's, hats, gloves and boxes of food. You will be able to eat a free, hot dinner (chicken ravioli).

February 1st, 2011-from 3:15 to 6:30 P.M. at the Friendship Dinner-1500 E. Locust-Emmett, Idaho. There will also be information about local agencies that can help you.

FEBRUARY 12th----a couple of things

Start February 12th by taking your dog (actually dogs are not required) on the "Love At First Walk" at the Gem Sports Island Complex. This is a fundraising event that benefits PAL (Pet Adoption League) in Emmett. The walk starts at 10AM til about noon. I have more information and sign up sheets at the Inn if you are interested.

After you are finished walking the dog, head home and get cleaned up for the Sweetheart Dinner.
The Sweetheart Dinner is held at the Ola Community Center, starting at 6PM, with dinner at 7PM. Tickets must be purchased in advance for this event at $25.oo per person. All proceeds benefit the Ola Library.

DON'T FORGET!!

The Syringa Ladies are having their "Taste of Italy" dinner this Saturday night. This event takes place at the Syringa Hall in Sweet from 6:30-8:30.

YOU ARE "SIMPLY THE BEST"!!

The Cowboy Supper and Bingo was a huge success Saturday night. Not only was it well attended, the food delicious, but your generosity was outstanding. With the supper, bingo and funds donated, this fundraiser for the Chavez family brought in about $1,300. Great job!!

"GHOST" WHITE DOG ROAMING THE AREA

The situation of the white "ghost" dog is that, he/she is being fed and has a warm place that it sleeps. Chris talked to a person that knows the breed very well and was advised NOT to try and catch it. We do not want to scare the dog from its safe, warm, feeding area. Chris will continue to feed this dog and hopefully gain its trust, if anyone can it's Chris. Thanks to all for your concern!

As a fundraiser, the Horseshoe Bend FFA is raffling off a pig. These kids are working really hard to raise money to go to state, so let's buy a raffle ticket and help them out. Tickets are $5.oo apiece. Contact Nathan at 584-3287 for your ticket. Thank you so much for your support.

With the weather outside being cold and gloomy, maybe you're spending more time on your computer. I thought I'd share some blogs that I enjoy and follow on a regular basis.

http://www.hip2save.com/ is the money saving website that Susan J. is keeping busy with. If you are a couponer or would like to be, this is the website! Save money on all sorts of items just by following this blog on regular basis.

http://www.dailycoyote.net/ is mainly a blog of photographs of a coyote being raised by a young woman in Wyoming. Her photography is beautiful and her story is interesting as well.

http://www.andelinempire.blogspot.com/ (The Boonie Life) Carrie's photography is amazing. What she captures through the lens of her camera is so fun and creative. She truly has a gift. The words and pictures are something that her family will cherish forever.

I have posted this list off to the left for your future reference.

FUNDRAISER FOR GARDEN VALLEY LIBRARY

I received an e-mail today about a fundraiser for the Garden Valley library. The book "All Along the River" by Nellie Ireton Mills tells about the pioneers along the Payette River, and includes history on Sweet and Ola. The book has been out of print for years but as a fundraiser, the Garden Valley library has had it reprinted.

I contacted the library and ordered my copy, if you would like a copy, please send a check for $29.00 ($25.00 for the book and $4.00 shipping) to and payable to:

Garden Valley Library
342 Village Circle
Garden Valley, Idaho 83622
**Don't forget to include instructions on where to send the book!
