TIS THE SEASON....

...of controlled burns. This Ola resident had a controlled burn this morning. Not only was it greatly appreciated that he notified the fire station of his burn but to be safe had a fire truck on scene just in case. What starts out as a controlled burn can quickly become uncontrolled with unexpected winds. Better be safe than sorry!

OLA ROUGH STRIDERS FUNDRAISING DANCE

Last night was the Relay For Life/Ola Rough Striders Western Dance-Sock Hop.  This was the first major fundraiser for the Relay For Life/American Cancer Society and it went very well.   It was well attended and everyone had a great time.  As the evening went on, thanks to our wonderful DJ, everyone was out dancing to western favorites or good old rock and roll from years past.

The kids proved to be a little more limber than than the adults but all gave it a good try.
This was just one of the fun fundraisers that the Ola Rough Striders had planned.   The beginning of July they will be having the Independence Day Celebration at the Ola park, then later in July the very popular 4-wheeler ride through some of Ola's beautiful back country.   All funds donated go for a great cause.   Our small community has had more than it's share of cancer.  We lost a dear neighbor and friend, Jerry Marx, the end of last year.   Through these fundraising events maybe we can help find a cure.

A big thanks to the Ola Rough Striders for their hard work in fundraising.  Thank you John and Tracy from the Ola Inn for donating the food for last night's event and thank you to all that attended.  By attending and having fun, you donated to a great cause. Please keep reading the Ola Community Newsletter for dates and times of all upcoming events.
