Subject: Save Sweet School (Please Forward to community)
To: kathy johns
I don't know if I'm over-reacting, but this Tues. May 6th @ 6:30 PM there will be a meeting for the community, the school district should be there, to discuss the fate of the Sweet-Montour elementary school. Decisions for Ola school will be discussed as well.
According to the district we should have 45+ kids to justify the staff we currently have. Our numbers have dropped to 30. So the school board is needing to make some kind of change. The meeting is to get ideas from us on how to solve the budgeting problem before a solution is decided.
Right now the most likely path is to lose one teacher, and have a K-2 class and a 3-5 class. -My concern with this is I think it will inevitably end in our 5TH graders being shipped down to Emmett middle-school. I don't want to see that happen!
Other ideas being thrown around are:
-Keeping our 6th graders at Sweet next year (which only brings numbers up to 36)
-Implementing a 4 Day school week (which I would love, only adds 45 min to a day, and kids get an extra day home)
-Moving Ola kids down to Sweet (don't think that would go over well)
-State funded preschool to bring in $ for school (but not likely we could get it in place in 3 months)
I would love to see the support of the community in this. And especially home-schooling families. If our School gets chiseled away, we lose a lot of community events, not to mention access to the library and special events that home-schoolers take advantage of too.
Please come with your ideas to the meeting Tues May 6th @ 6:30-7:30. Or at least come to show your support and desire to keep our community School going strong.
I appreciate it,
Jeanne Anderson

HE IS RISEN!
WOW, what a glorious day!
My Dad passed away yesterday afternoon. Six years ago I don’t know how I would have handled his death. Today I celebrate not only our Living Risen Savior, I celebrate because my Dad is in His presence for this most joyous day.
The apostle Paul wrote to praise God in all circumstances, and I do because Dad is not only in the presence of Jesus but in the presence of our most Holy Father kneeling and praising Him. I praise God because my brother, that just moved to Texas, was able to be here and spend some time with Dad and will be a very big comfort to Mom. Thank you Lord.
I and my family covet your payers. Thank You.

Russ

Hi Ola.
