IT'S GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN!!

Parents,  you will have at least 12 Ola residences that will be waiting to greet your little ghosts and goblins.  Everyone that I talked to is excited to have door to door trick or treating!  I still have a couple more people to talk to then the list will be ready.  I will keep you posted.

We would also like to know if you will be handing out candy at  your home.  Some parents have expressed interest in taking their children trick or treating door to door also.  A list will be provided of the participating residents so the parents know where to go.  If you want to be on the list call Kim 584-9030.

The Halloween Parade will be
 Wednesday, October 31st 1:00PM
 You are welcomed to dress up and join the parade or just come and watch. Following the parade there will be prizes and treats at the school.

The roof on the Ola Inn is complete! It looks great and will preserve the Ola Inn for years to come. The Ola Inn has donated the monies received from the Community from the "Ola Inn Re-Roof" fundraiser to the Ola Community Church restoration fund. Thank you Ellen for making "our" community a wonderful place to live.

TRAILER WRECK NORTH OF OLA

 A guy lost control of his rig trying to miss a deer or maybe just going too fast.  This is up by Dave M.'s place.  Apparently the horses were not injured but reluctant to go for another ride. Phone service is out at quite a few residences but they did miss Dave's pole fence.

WEATHER SENSOR INSTALLED AT OLA SCHOOL

Hi, Wanted to let everybody know I install a RAWS Station, (Remote Automated Weather Sensor) in Ola at the school. It transmits hourly on GMT time which is 7 hrs ahead of local time. To find it, go to “ROMAN RAWS”, scroll down to ID, the name of the station is “Boise Portable 1, Marrie”. Most of it is easy to read. Under ‘Wind”, that tells the direction and level speed. A reading might be “2801”, which means 280 is the direction and 1 is the level speed of the wind. Under “Peak Wind”, it might read something like “21G10” , That means the station counted the highest gusts of wind at 10 mph, 21 times. The “Fuel Temp and Fuel Moist” is a ½ inch stick that measures the temp and moisture of the fuels on the ground, something Firefighters like to know. “SR” is the intensity of the sun. In the summer it can get into the 1000s, this time of year it stays low, on a foggy day it might get close to 100. Another station of interest for the area is “Pine Creek” . It is located above Ola and High Valley just inside the timber. ( there is a Pine Creek Pass, but it’s located up north) Any question I’ll be happy to answer, or Mrs. Blackford has a good run down on the stations I set up, maintain, and how to read them. The Harvest Dinner is this coming Saturday at noon. The Ola Ladies Club will be furnishing the meat, so salads and/or desserts would be appreciated. In the past we have had an abundance of desserts so if the Ola ladies could bring salads that would be great. If you have any questions, give Joy a call at 584-3522.

 

The Ola Library will be open Wednesday, closed on Friday and open on Saturday.

Emmett hospital notifying patients of recalled drug print Email this article | MORE by Associated Press KTVB.COM Posted on October 5, 2012 at 2:48 PM BOISE -- State health officials say a hospital in southwest Idaho and a private clinic in the eastern part of the state are the only two medical facilities that received shipments of a recalled steroid linked to a deadly outbreak of meningitis. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare identified the facilities Friday as the Walter Knox Memorial Hospital in Emmett and Idaho Falls-based Pain Specialists of Idaho. Agency Spokesman Tom Shanahan said doctors at both locations are working to notify patients who may have received an injection of the recalled drug. So far, there are no illnesses reported in Idaho patients who received the shots taken for back pain. Nationally, 47 people in seven states have been diagnosed with infection, and five have died from the rare fungal meningitis.

This year we are asking for your help. Would you be able to donate your time to help plan and decorate the Hall for this year's most scary night? Also this year, we would like to compile a list of people that would welcome trick or treaters at their door. A few parents want to take their kiddos door to door trick or treating. GRASS FIRE

by KTVB KTVB.COM Posted on October 3, 2012 at 3:18 PM Updated today at 3:46 PM BOISE -- Numerous fire departments are responding to a grass fire burning in the Eagle foothills this afternoon. Gem County dispatch tells us the fire was reported by an Idaho Power worker at 2:27 p.m. No word yet on the cause. Fire crews from Gem County, Star and the Bureau of Land Management are assisting. The fire is estimated to have burned between 75 and 100 acres, and is north of where Eagle Road turns into Willow Creek Road, near where the road intersects with Chapparal Road. There are several structure protection units on scene. No structures have been damaged at this time. A fire chief on scene told dispatchers that crews have been successful in building a line around the fire. No word on when the fire will be contained. NewsChannel 7 has a photographer at the scene and we are working to gather more information. Check back for an update.
